58th Annual Anniversary cum Farewell Gathering 2011

Sketch Competition

Registration Time : 6.30 a.m.

Registration Venue : Reception

Registration Fee : RM10

Competition/Presentation Venue : Hall

Maximum Participants : Unlimited

Rules and Regulations:

1. The sketch/drama must not contain any foul language or sensitive topics about politics or religion.

2. The plot of the sketch is NOT necessary to comply with the theme of the gathering, Italian Renaissance: House of Medici – Florentine Histories”.

3. The sketch must be at least 5 minutes and not longer than 15 minutes.

4. The costumes should be appropriate and not offensive to others.

5. The sketch must be recorded into CDs, with another copy saved in a pen drive as backup which should be brought along to the gathering.

6. CDs should be handed in about 2 weeks before the gathering.

7. Violations of the rules will result in deduction of marks.

8. The Organizing Committee reserves the right to modify the rules without prior notice.

9. The judges’ decisions are FINAL.

10. The recordings are advised to be in the MP3 format.

Dance Competition

Registration Time : 6.30 a.m.

Registration Venue : Reception

Registration Fee : RM10

Competition/Presentation Venue : Hall

Maximum Participants : 12

Rules and Regulations:

1. The number of participant in a group must be between 5-12 people.

2. The costumes should be appropriate and not offensive to others.

3. Time given for the presentation is 4-7 minutes. Marks may be deducted if the time limit is exceeded.

4. The dance performance can be either modern dance OR traditional dance OR a combination of both.

5. It is NOT necessary for the performance to be based on the theme.

6. Participants are encouraged to have dance steps that are not too repetitive.

7. Participants are encouraged to have performances which have deep cultural roots.

8. CDs should be handed in about 2 weeks before the gathering.

9. The music must be recorded into CDs, with another copy saved in a pen drive as backup which should be brought along to the gathering.

10. Participants are allowed to reclaim their CD after the competition.

11. The files are advised to be in the MP3 format.

12. All materials required should be prepared beforehand.

13. Breakdancing is not encouraged.

14. Those that fail to fulfil these requirements will be disqualified.

15. The judges’ decisions are FINAL and complaints will not be entertained.

16. All changes and amendments are subject to the Organizing Committee.

Maximum Participants : 3

Rules and Regulations:

1. Each school can send a maximum of 3 people in a group to compete in the competition.

2. The costumes should be appropriate and not offensive to others.

3. Time given for the performance is 4-7 minutes. Marks will be deducted if the time limit is exceeded.

4. The performance is NOT required to be based on the theme.

5. Only English and Mandarin songs are allowed.

6. Participants should seek consent from the Organizing Committee to use other languages or dialects.

7. CDs should be handed in about 2 weeks before the gathering.

8. The music must be recorded into CDs, with another copy saved in a pen drive as backup which should be brought along to the gathering.

9. Participants are allowed to reclaim their CD after the competition.

10. The files are advised to be in the MP3 format.

11. Musical instruments are allowed to be used during the performance with the permission of the Organizing Committee.

12. Participants are encouraged to sing original songs.

13. The judges’ decisions are FINAL and complaints will not be entertained.

14. All changes and amendments are subject to the Organizing Committee.

Rules and Regulations:

1. The banner must be based on the theme Italian Renaissance: House of Medici – Florentine Histories”.

2. The banner must be drawn DURING the function.

3. Presenters must wear full uniform.

4. Participants are given 3 hours to complete the banner.

5. Time given for the presentation is 5-7 minutes. Marks may be deducted if the time limit is exceeded.

6. The presentation must be in either English or Mandarin.

7. Anything related to political or religious issues must NOT be implemented in the banner design or presentation.

8. Schools have the choice to have a maximum of 3 persons to participate in the presentation.

9. The size of the banner should be 2m x 1m.

10. Only Pelaka mural paints, Poster Colour, Water Colour and Paint are allowed.

11. Participants should seek consent from the Organizing Committee to use other media or materials.

12. Participants are encouraged to have a banner rack/stand for the presentation.

13. The judges’ decisions are FINAL and complaints will not be entertained.

14. All changes and amendments are subject to the Organizing Committee.

Rules and Regulations:

1. The costumes must be based on the theme Italian Renaissance: House of Medici – Florentine Histories”.

2. Presenters must wear full uniform, with the exception of those who are wearing the costumes.

3. Time given for the presentation is 5-10 minutes. Marks may be deducted if the time limit is exceeded.

4. The presentation must be in either English or Mandarin.

5. Anything related to political or religious issues should NOT be included in the costume design or presentation.

6. Schools have the choice to have a maximum of 3 persons to participate in the presentation, with one person REQUIRED to present the costume.

7. The background music must be prepared by the participants beforehand.

8. Participants are allowed to finish their costumes before the competition.

9. The costumes must not be too revealing.

10. Batteries are allowed to be used for lighting or other special effects on the costumes.

11. Questions will be asked by the judges and participants must answer ALL questions posed.

12. The judges’ decisions are FINAL and complaints will not be entertained.

13. Recyclable items are encouraged to be used. Bonus marks will be given.

14. All changes and amendments are subject to the Organizing Committee.

SCULPTURE DESIGN Competition

Competition/Presentation Venue : Hall

Maximum Participants : 3

Rules and Regulation:

1. The design and creation of the statue must be authentic and done based on the theme Italian Renaissance: House of Medici – Florentine Histories.

2. The designs of statues permitted include angel, human, mythical creatures etc. Statues that either do not represent any life form or are too abstract are not accepted.

3. Time given for the presentation is 5-10 minutes. Presenters must be wearing full uniform. Marks will be deducted if the time limit is exceeded.

4. The presentation must be in either English or Mandarin.

5. Anything related to political or religious issues should NOT be included in the sculpture design or presentation

6. Light materials are encouraged. Participants are advised to use materials such as bamboo, newspaper and mahjong paper.

7. The statue constructed should be in one colour only, but dark and light tones of the same colour can be used.

8. The height or length of the statue constructed must be at least 1. 6 metres.

9. The judges’ decisions are FINAL and complaints will not be entertained.

10. All changes and amendments are subject to the Organizing Committee.

BACKWOODSMAN cooking Competition

Registration Time : 6.30 a. m.

Competition/Presentation Venue : Form 6 Block Motorcycle Car Park

Maximum Participants : 4

Rules and Regulations

1. The food which must be prepared includes chicken, fish, rice, egg, pancake, twist, drinks, potato and special.

2. Participants are given 3 hours to cook their food and clean their cooking area.

3. Participants are given 30 minutes to light their fire. Marks are not given for fires which are lighted after the designated time. Only 3 matches will be given to light the fire.

4. Preparation of a menu is optional, but bonus marks will be given for those who do so.

5. Raw food and zinc must be prepared by participants themselves.

6. Food must be HALAL.

7. Chili sauce, tomato sauce and soya sauce are not allowed. Only natural seasoning such as black pepper is allowed.

8. Cleanliness marks will be given based on the cleanliness around the cooking area.

9. An ALTAR FIRE is compulsory. The fireplace is not allowed to be on the floor.

10. A SERVING PLACE is compulsory. Marks will be awarded for this.

11. Only FIREWOOD can be used for cooking purposes.

12. No modern cooking utensils are allowed. Only bamboo-made cooking utensils can be used.

13. Only two persons are allowed to present their foods to judges.

14. Participants that disobey the rules will be disqualified.

15. The organizing committee reserves the right to amend the rules without prior notice.

16. The decision of the judges is final.

MINI GADGET Competition

Registration Time : 6.30a.m.

Registration Venue : Reception

Registration Fee : RM10

Competition/Presentation Venue : Hall

Maximum Participants : 4

Rules and Regulations:

1. The landscape of the mini gadget must be based on the theme Italian Renaissance: House of Medici – Florentine Histories .

2. Participants will be given 3 hours to complete 4 gadgets – tower, bridge, community building and a bonus gadget.

3. Bonus marks will be given to those participants that make extra gadgets.

4. The scale of the landscape must be 1m x 1m.

5. Materials that could be use are satay sticks, chopsticks and rattan.

6. Participants are not allowed to use colours on their materials, except for landscape.

7. Every mini gadget must be tied using white strings. Marks will be deducted if other colours of string are used.

8. All mini gadgets must be arranged in the landscape prepared.

9. Electronics (lights) are allowed to use on landscape only.

10. Mini gadget that produced must hand in to the organizing committee and are allowed to claim back after the competition.

11. Only 2 participants are allowed to present their mini gadget.

12. Participants are not allowed to leave the competition venue and communicate with other people during the competition. Those who violate these rules will be disqualified.

13. One troop is allowed to send one team only to participate in this competition.

14. All changes and amendments are subject to the Organizing Committee.

15. The judges’ decisions are FINAL and complaints will not be entertained.

1. Participants can purchase food or drinks in the canteen.

2. Purchase of food and drinks should be done by cash only.

3. Lunch will be provided.

Classrooms

1. Classrooms will be provided for the participants.

2. The classrooms for both genders will be separated.

3. The teacher advisor and group leaders can request for separate rooms from their members.

Toilets

1. Toilets for both genders will be separated.

2. Any damage or spoilage to the toilets must be reported to the Organizing Committee.

Safety

1. An emergency room will be prepared.

2. The room is equipped with first-aid with first-aiders on standby.

3. The security of the school is tightly monitored throughout the event.

MARKS ALLOCATION

1. Best Overall Champion, 1st Runner-Up & 2nd Runner-Up

· Participants must take part in all the competitions to qualify for this category.

· The marks are calculated by totaling the marks from all the competitions.

· The marks for Best Supporter and Best Discipline will be taken into account

· The mark allocation 1st Runner-Up and 2nd Runner-Up is the same as that of Best Overall Champion and will be awarded to the group which comes in second for the Best Overall Champion category.

· Any group which disobeys the rules and regulations are automatically disqualified from these categories.

2. Best Supporter

· Supporting items which produce sounds or involve burning are disallowed.

· Marks are allocated based on the cooperation, creativity and spirit showed by the participants when supporting.

· Any group which disobeys the rules and regulations are automatically disqualified from this category.

3. Best Attendance

· The group with the highest number of participants will be awarded this prize.
